Mrs. Beak and Mr. Mustache

“The early bird catches the early worm” is one of a famous idiomatic expressions I learned when I was young,”

This digital illustration was the result of me explaining to my daughter the idiom. I end up sketching these characters because of this. She laughs because she finds the character funny. The lesson of the idiom is lost because I got fixated in discussing why the characters looked like that and why the worm is wearing a hat. She names the characters and come up  with a story surrounding this characters.

“Life is a ball” is  the line that runs through my head when I was sketching along using Tayasui Sketch App for the first time. I let my hands glide through slowly and have my brain decifer what my hand had achieved. If there’s an expression, “I let my feet take me wherever my feet will take me.”, this drawing is exactly what my hand took me.

Here is the link of the artwork if you want to look at it more closely.

Prints of postcards, magnets, etc are also sold here.

The quote or statement is what my mind conceived while sketching along the page. True that I made mistakes as I tried using different brushes and functions but in this artwork, but I prefered to leave the mistakes as part of the art as life if full of it.

My conceptualization of this artwork is somewhat obvious and familliar to the viewer, hence, I dont need to explain why it is a ball, why the work is so simple and why I used the colors and etc.

Thus I leave the interpretation to the viewers.

Feel free to comment you interpretation/s or version of art below.

These are Boo and Boohoo.

A halloween duo I made few years ago for comic project. But sad to say, the story and comic are still work in progress and that is not why I publish them here.

Boo and Boohoo were first published on ~ . Originally, the characters and first digital artwork of them was made as a holiday greeting for my blog. Check it here to know more about them.

This digital art is a modified version of this said holiday greeting. The only difference is that the color of the characters is intentionally removed. This modified version will serve as my first published Color Me Pages.

Boo and Boohoo are officially the debutants of Color Me Pages project.

Color Me Pages is euriana’s collection of artworks that will provide free downloadable coloring pages for art enthusiasts, children, educators, librarians, parents and etc. Not only these pages will provide activity sheets for toddlers and older children but also serve people who wish to relax through coloring.

Without further ado, Here is the free downloadable color me page posted in my deviantart account.

Cupcake drawing

Cupcake drawing + Dove = Love

Cupcake drawing and dove equals love

Cupcake drawing by euriana

Scanning through my sketches in the past, I remembered being fascinated with cupcakes and chocolates. I can’t believe that I have the luxury to enjoy such pleasures in life.

The enjoyed working with the detailing of my drawing as I let every line worth my time. The drawing turned out nicely, I think.

But feel free to critic my drawing.

This drawing is done using graphite pencil on my typical sketch book, and done last year, 2014.

If you guys were wondering what happened to the chocolate, I ate it right after I’ve finished my work. It serves as my goal while drawing.

Toddler Worksheets: Letter G

“If you can’t explain it simply, you don’t understand it well enough.”

– Albert Einstein

Today, me and my toddler companion is having an activity. She is getting herself acquainted with the Letter G.

Since she enjoy watching Curious George, the movie, I’ve drawn George in her toddler worksheet.

I also added a drawing of a Goat for her to remember the letter.

G is for Goat G is for George

G is for Goat
G is for George

As for the next page, I introduced to her a legendary creature called “griffin”. I have drawn this “Griffin giving gift” to emphasize the sound of the letter and for her to be familiarize with it at the same time.

This is the first time I’ve drawn a Griffin, so please bare with me.

G is for "Griffin giving a gift"

G is for “Griffin giving a gift”

All the drawings are done by me, using pencil, black markers, and eraser on paper (small sketchpad). Both pages was finished under 30 minutes. The drawings are based on the pictures I found while searching online.

These toddler worksheets were drawn in black outline for her to color the pages while recognizing the symbols.

Hope she’ll enjoy the pages.

I’m looking forward to draw more mythical creatures next time.

Enjoy!

Doodle Thursday: Yellow bird

yellow bird march 2015 by euriana (blog)

yellow bird march 2015 by euriana (blog)

Yellow bird is my first mixed media art.

I was inspired by mixed media artists I found online and thought to give it a try.

I found this style liberating and fun to do.

Just some random splash of paint then go along with whatever i thought that suit the color scheme I come up with.

Mixed media is done using graphite and poster paint on paper and finished it in 2 hours.  Yellow bird was based on random birds I found in Google and drawn freehand.

Looking forward to make more of this.

Hope you’ll like it.
